Cal Chapman

Chapman Engineering

Cal Chapman is President and Co-Founder of Chapman Engineering, which began business in 1989. He has practiced environmental engineering and corrosion engineering, project management, and environmental sciences since 1981. From 1975 to 1977, he worked on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline project, driving rock-hauling trucks and trying to stay on the road. Chapman graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas in May 1981, with a B. S. in Engineering Science. Mechanical engineering was the major, with concentrations in chemical and electrical engineering. He is a licensed professional engineer in Texas, New Mexico, North Dakota and Oklahoma, and is a “Model Law Engineer” through the U. S. “National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.” Cal holds the NACE Cathodic Protection Specialist (CP-4) rating as of 2009, and is a Texas-registered “Corrective Action Project Manager” for environmental assessment and remediation work. From 2012-2017, he served on the NACE International Central Area Board, and held the Chairman position in 2015-2016.

Chapman has obtained three U. S. patents in underground storage tank leak detection, performed many forensic evaluations relating to environmental and corrosion concerns, and provided expert witness litigation support since 2000. He and the company provide corrosion control consulting, cathodic protection surveys, CP design and installation, and troubleshooting for a wide range of corrosion and environmental issues. Cal contributes articles to publications worldwide, and speaks at numerous corrosion control and environmental conferences. His latest article is subtitled, “Who Really Wants to Install a Liability?”

Cal and his wife Jo live in Boerne, Texas with their dogs. Two daughters are successfully out on their own, which is amazing! One of Cal’s main goals in life is to keep his work commute time at six minutes each way – when he’s not traveling.
